Mile High Memories

The Denver Broncos is a franchise rich in history. Whether it be John Elway leading one of his legendary comebacks, or Terrell Davis making a spectacular run into the endzone, the Broncos are an exciting franchise. Supported by the legendary John Elway, the Broncos possessed one of the most potent passing games in football history. Elway’s arm strength and accuracy were unmatched. Using his combination of athletic gifts, Elway would pick opposing defenses apart. He could scan the field in an instant and find the open man for a big play.

Terrell Davis was also difficult on opposing defenses. Where Elway destroyed a defense in the air, Davis tackled the defense on the ground. His speed, agility, and power made Terrell Davis one of the best running backs in football history. He could get to the hole with a tremendous burst of speed, shake off the first defender with a strong power move, then use his agility to maneuver past the remaining defense into the endzone. After scoring, Davis was known for the “Mile High Salute,” a classy move where he would salute the crowd.

Using a combination Elway and Davis, the Broncos were able to win the Super Bowl. In that game, the Broncos faced the mighty Green Bay Packers. Coming into the game as underdogs, the Broncos needed a spectacular effort to win. The moment which stands out to most fans is when Elway scrambled to the right side of the field and was hit by two Packers players. Elway’s body spun like a corkscrew as he held onto the football for a crucial first down. The Broncos ended up scoring a decisive touchdown on that drive and held on to win the game. Elway’s grit and determination on that play cemented his legacy with Broncos fans around the world.
