Denver loves the Broncos, and if you are new to Denver you may be surprised by all of the support that this football team receives. If you are in a grocery store on a Sunday in Fall, the game will be broadcasted, employees may all have orange and there will be displays of foods suitable for football watching with the Bronco logo surrounding them. If you go to church on Sunday, don’t be surprised to see the minister in a orange tie. The fans of the Broncos are serious and want everyone to know it. This may be because Denver is geographically segregated from other famous football towns by several thousands of miles. The Denver fans want to make sure everyone supports their team even though rival fans may not be around to see the support for the Broncos.

One of the biggest traditions that fans and players are known for is giving the ‘Mile High Salute’. This military type salute was made popular by Terrell Davis. This outstanding player made fame for the Broncos from 1995 to 2002. The tradition lives on and you can see fans and players alike giving the mile high salute when witnessing a great play.

Over the course of Bronco’s history some of their best draft picks have been late round gems. Late round draft picks can be a gamble; players drafted late can become starters or they can fail to even make the practice squad. The following players were key components in the the Broncos back to back Superbowl wins in 1997 and 1998.

Center is not the most glamourous position in football, but it is one of the most important. The Broncos developed one of the NFL’s best offensive lines after drafting Tom Nalen in the 7th round in 1994. With Nalen directing the Bronco’s highly effective zone blocking scheme running backs flourished. During Nalen’s 15 year career 6 different running backs topped 1,000 rushing yards in a season.

Shannon Sharpe was considered to be too slow to play wide receiver and too small to be a tight end. The Broncos took a chance on Sharpe when they drafted him in the 7th round in 1990. This 7th round draft pick turned out to be one of the best tight ends to ever play in the NFL. When he retired after a 14 year career with the Broncos he held every record possible for a tight end. He was enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame in 2011.

The Broncos expected a practice squad player when they drafted Terrel Davis in the 6th round in 1995. Instead they got one of the league’s most explosive running backs. Davis rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first 4 seasons. Davis was one of the biggest reasons the Broncos won their first Superbowl in 1997- he rushed for 157 yards and 3 TDs in the big game. The following season he broke records by rushing for 2,008 yards and won the NLF MVP award.

Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Denver, Colorado that is most known as the home of the NFL’s Denver Broncos. It opened in 2001, replacing the old Mile High Stadium that had been home to the Broncos since 1960.

Visitors will find that the stadium is easily accessible via multiple Denver thoroughfares, as it is located off Interstate 25 near the 17th Street and Colfax Avenue exits and can also be accessed from Federal Boulevard. The RTD light rail train also has a stop at Invesco Field, making it convenient for fans to travel to games.

Broncos fans will find there is not a bad seat in the house of 76,125 seats. Several Broncos fan traditions – such as the chanting of “in-com-plete” and the booing of empty seats – are alive and well today, making for a fun, interactive stadium experience. The infamous “South Stands” fans are at every game and are regarded as some of the loudest fans in professional sports.

Invesco Field is also home to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Museum, located at Gate 1. Fans will want to check out this shrine to Colorado sports greats before or after the game.If you like what you see, keep going: Denver Broncos’ Von Miller will make about half as much money as he would have under former CBA

No doubt you’ve watched your fair share of games on your http://www.direct.tv satellite channels and you may even have a jersey or two to your name but only the truest Bronco fans venture into the crazy territory. Crazy licensed products, that is. Here are a few of our favorites…
Denver Broncos Golf Bag: Okay, so this isn’t THAT weird but if you’re a Broncos fan don’t you like…football? Why proclaim your love of the game on your golf bag? Isn’t that kind of like wearing a Tiger Woods shirt to the stadium?
Inflatable Bubba: The best way we can describe this thing is a relatively life sized inflatable football player about to hike the ball. We don’t know where you would put this or why your would need it and better yet, why it’s called ‘Bubba.’
Broncos Chef Coat: If you’re not competing on Top Chef Denver you really don’t need a Broncos chef coat. You can wear it to tailgate or to…look really silly cooking up dogs in your kitchen at home.
We better get some of these in our stockings this year!

After enduring a 2-year mistake commonly referred to in the Mile High Area as the “Josh McDaniels Era,” marred by the trading away of both components of one of the league’s most prolific tandems in Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, the Denver Broncos have decided to hire perhaps the most opposite man available as McDaniels’ successor.McDaniels came up the ranks as a hotshot coordinator, taking on the Broncos (yes, the combative nature of the word is intentional) as his first head coaching job. Fox, on the other hand, is a wily vet of the NFL head coaching circle, having spent his last 9 years in Carolina. To fans worried about his 2-14 season with the Panthers, in short, don’t be. Fox was hung out to dry by the brass down in Charlotte, shipping out veterans and trusted playmakers, insisting Fox play younger, albeit less talented and unproven players. Combined with the injury bug that chewed up Pro Bowl running back DeAngelo Williams among other contributors, the 2010 Panthers would’ve been a losing team, even with the ghost of Vince Lombardi calling the shots.Fox is a tough-nosed football coach, with a game plan built around running the football and strong defense, a far cry from the attempted aerial assault that has gotten the Broncos little to no traction over the past 2 years. A quarterback like Tim Tebow, who Fox will have at least some token of his own future invested in, regardless of his preference, can succeed in Fox’s system, so long as he plays smart, turnover free football. Not to mention, it should be intriguing to see what kind of wrinkles Tebow could add to Fox’s run-heavy arsenal.Tired of second half collapses? As much as any headset-bearer in the NFL, Fox gets better as a season progresses. Starting 1-7 in 2004, Fox teams never fail for effort rallying to win 5 straight, then finish the season at 7-9. In more recent history, the 2009 Panthers sat at 4-7 before rallying to win 4 of 5 down the stretch and finish at an even 8-8. During his tenure at Carolina, Fox won more than he lost, even considering the most recent 2-14 debacle.Inheriting a 1-15 team his first year as a head coach, Fox propelled the Panthers to their only Super Bowl berth in franchise history in just his second season, losing to the Patriots in their final contest.Though Fox has never won a Super Bowl, perhaps it’s best he’s saved some tricks for the Denver faithful. No head coach in league history has ever won two Super Bowls with different teams. Fox knows how to build a consistent team and knows how to get to football’s biggest stage. Here’s to hoping he figures out the rest and returns the franchise to glory.
